I had actually intended to make this months ago, when someone posted the idea to the customs list I belong to. I originally wanted to be a smuggler pilot, since Han Solo is one of my favorite characters. Then, I saw THE PHANTOM MENACE, and realized that Jedi Knights are really cool!
So, I thought I could combine the two ideas into one figure....and of course I had to name him after myself! (Actually, the name was once submitted to a "name my custom" contest...but I lost!)
I had originally planned on using the legs for a Porkins custom, but when an official Porkins figure was announced, I scrapped that idea. So, I added a Malakili upper half (since it most accurately represents me! HAHA) and began putting the pieces together. I decided to not use sculpey on the body, as I have had some bad experiences with sculpting the bodies...they tend to warp on me, so I just painted over the skin....which now makes it look like a superhero costume, but oh well! Then, I decided to add the skirt on the back. I grabbed an extra cloak I had lying around, and glued it onto the waist. In his "bodyguard" outfit, he also has the Corellian bloodstripe on his pants, which keeps the smuggler idea going for me.
When I decided that he should be a Jedi Knight, I found a cheapo figure with this robe outfit, and threw on the Jedi robe from the Accessory set. (These sets are great!) I also painted some fingerless gloves onto his hands, since I like the look. I found a piece of a leather "string" and made the belt. It actually holds both the gun and the saber hilt!
As for the beard....well, it comes and goes. In the photo, I don't have one. When I was making this I did, and I decided that all good Jedi Knights should have a beard! Of course, my particular facial growth is bizarre, so I tried to match what my beard would be like if I was allowed to let it grow (not that my wife would let me! hahaha) Also, I included the bald spot that is developing on top of my head! Talk about accuracy!
If nothing else, I think this is the first fat Jedi Knight we have seen!
